High Violet Chromewaves review
I will take issue with one part of the review.
much to the dismay of fist-pumpers everywhere, it’s clear the band is well past its days of writing tracks like “Abel” and “Mr. November”.
Why the negative connotation? The writer seems to indicate that wanting these types of songs is unsophisticated, as seen by the word “fist-pumpers”. I wish the National would let loose again, a flat out rocker at the end of the album or something. They seem a bit too reserved, almost aloof, and don’t want to shed the “above it all” vibe they have carefully cultivated in the indie rock world.
